Points to note

I decided to use Cobalt point machines on my shelf diorama so I bought three and mounted them in position.

I wanted to control them using my Lenz DCC system so I bought the matching accessory decoders (only two as one decoder will power two switches as a crossover).

Following the instructions for both the accessory decoders and Lenz system,I set the whole thing up as shown. And nothing worked. Decoders buzzed but no movement.

Frustrated, I rewired the 'layout' and tried again. Still nothing.

Checked Internet forums but nothing matched my issues.

Finally gave in and contacted the manufacturer and he explained that I have to turn off Railcom because this blocks the programming signal and reduce the track voltage as this burns out the decoders.

All done, as described in the Lenz manual and...

...nothing! Although the decoders did seem to accept the programming.

So I ordered a new accessory decoder which duly arrived yesterday. Last night I wired it in and it worked!!!

The lovely whir of the motor was music to my ears!

Going to buy another now and then arrange to return the duff ones to the manufacturers, along with the recommendation that an information sheet is made available explaining these procedures.
